About the Role
Angels Care invites applications for a qualified Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving outcomes for NDIS participants with complex support needs, particularly those exhibiting behaviours of concern.
The successful candidate will develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans aligned with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission's restrictive practices framework, focusing on participant well-being and aiming to minimize or eliminate restrictive practices.
This position offers a meaningful opportunity for a passionate specialist to enhance quality of life for people with disabilities, with access to professional supervision, development, and peer consultations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed functional behaviour assessments (FBAs) and analyze behaviours of concern.
- Create personalised, evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support plans.
- Ensure all behaviour support plans meet NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission compliance standards.
- Manage restrictive practices authorisation processes as necessary.
- Provide training and coaching to support workers and families for effective PBS plan execution.
- Regularly monitor outcomes, review and modify strategies based on collected data.
- Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation and prepare required reports for the NDIS Commission.
- Work collaboratively with allied health professionals, support coordinators, and management teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or related discipline.
- Endorsement as a Proficient or higher Behaviour Support Practitioner by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, or actively pursuing this endorsement.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Possession of a valid Australian driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Legal right to work in Australia.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Provisional or full registration with AHPRA (Psychology, OT, Speech Pathology) or AASW (Social Work).
- Experience authoring behaviour support plans that incorporate regulated restrictive practices.
- Formal training in Positive Behaviour Support methodologies.
- Experience working with participants diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, or acquired brain injuries.
