Beach Cleaning Manager

Overview

The Beach Cleaning Manager is tasked with planning, directing, and supervising all activities related to maintaining the cleanliness and environmental upkeep of beaches. The role ensures beaches are safe, visually appealing, and adhere to environmental and municipal standards, while also focusing on client satisfaction and sustainability efforts.

Key Duties

• Create and execute comprehensive beach cleaning schedules spanning daily to monthly cycles.
• Manage manual and mechanical beach cleaning operations to remove litter, debris, seaweed, hazardous materials, and pollutants.
• Maintain cleanliness standards aligned with service agreements and monitor through inspections and audits.
• Lead emergency cleanup activities post-storms, events, or environmental incidents.
• Supervise and motivate supervisors, team leaders, and cleaning staff, ensuring optimal workforce deployment, productivity, discipline, and attendance.
• Provide coaching, conduct performance appraisals, and foster a culture of safety and environmental awareness.
• Oversee maintenance and operation schedules for cleaning equipment, monitor usage, and manage assets effectively.
• Ensure environmental compliance by supervising waste segregation, collection, transport, and disposal according to local regulations.
• Support sustainability programs including marine conservation and beach certifications like Blue Flag standards.
• Manage client relations and act as liaison with authorities, handling site meetings and responding promptly to any client concerns.
• Maintain operational reports pertaining to cleanliness performance, manpower, equipment use, environmental compliance, costs, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process efficiencies and cost reduction.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Facilities Management, Environmental Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
• Certifications in Facilities Management, Environmental Management, or Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) areas are preferred.
• Possession of a valid UAE driving license is advantageous.
• 5 to 8 years' experience in Facilities Management, Environmental Services, Waste or Municipal Cleaning, or Coastal Maintenance roles.
• Minimum 3 years in supervisory or management positions managing sizable blue-collar teams in outdoor settings.
• Experience with beach cleaning machinery and familiarity with environmental and municipal compliance is beneficial.
