Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting daily retail operations and ensuring outstanding customer experiences in the beauty and cosmetics sector. Key duties include overseeing store opening and closing processes, maintaining grooming and hygiene standards, and ensuring the sales floor is ready and presentable.

This role involves guiding and coaching Beauty Advisors and Specialists on consultation best practices and product storytelling techniques to enhance customer satisfaction. Managing customer interactions with professionalism while upholding the brand's service quality is essential. Additionally, the Assistant Manager supports the enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), hygiene protocols, and discipline within the store environment.

On the commercial front, the Assistant Manager aids the Store Manager in meeting critical performance indicators such as sales goals, conversion rates, average transaction value (ATV), units per transaction (UPT), and customer loyalty. They monitor stock status, product performance, and replenishment needs to keep key items available. Participation in in-store events, promotions, and beauty consultations is required, along with reviewing sales data and recommending strategies for improvement.

The role entails leading and motivating a diverse team comprising Beauty Advisors, Specialists, and Cashiers. Responsibilities include providing on-floor coaching, enhancing product knowledge, offering constructive feedback, and facilitating training on new launches and service excellence. Cultivating a positive, collaborative, and customer-oriented team atmosphere is emphasized.

Inventory control and visual merchandising are also important areas of focus. The Assistant Manager supports inventory processes including stock replenishment, shrinkage prevention, and expiry monitoring through FIFO/FEFO methods. Ensuring that brand visual standards and planograms are met, coordinating with supply chain teams for timely stock delivery, and maintaining precise documentation, cash handling, and audit preparedness form part of the role.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management or related discipline preferred.
  • Between 2 to 4 years' experience in beauty, cosmetics, or luxury retail sectors, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of beauty products, consultation methodologies, and customer experience standards.
  • Proven track record in supporting key performance metrics, driving team results, and ensuring operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication, coaching abilities, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong presentation skills.
  • Capability to excel in a dynamic, launch-focused retail setting.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management, and retail reporting software.
