Role Overview
We are offering an opportunity to join Rhodar Limited's Commercial team as either an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor, primarily based in our Aldermaston location near Reading. This full-time position requires occasional travel to other company offices with overnight stays. The role focuses on providing commercial and contractual support to project teams to maximize financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly visit sites to offer commercial guidance and attend site meetings as required.
- Facilitate strong collaboration between commercial and site teams.
- Maintain and develop positive client relationships.
- Identify any deviations from original work scope ensuring variations are recorded and claimed appropriately.
- Assess completed work and prepare interim payment applications timely and accurately as per contract terms.
- Manage subcontract orders and verify payment applications from subcontractors.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and cost value reconciliations for Commercial Manager review.
- Analyze and update project costs as necessary based on scope changes.
- Assist in maintaining accurate cash flow reports.
- Ensure all subcontractors and supply chain partners comply with procurement and compliance approvals.
- Contribute to monthly work-in-progress reporting and debt monitoring.
- Stay informed about various building contract types utilized within projects.
Career Development and Support
- Receive a customized induction and onboarding experience tailored to Quantity Surveying.
- Undergo 4 to 6 weeks of shadowing an experienced Quantity Surveyor at the Leeds office prior to full-time site responsibilities.
- Access formal, continuous training programs aligned with quantity surveying professional growth and MRICS mentorship.
- Support navigating the APC process, including financial assistance.
- Benefit from a clear, structured training plan supporting career advancement within the company.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses a full valid driving license.
- Holds a Quantity Surveying degree accredited by RICS.
- Has 2 to 4 years postgraduate experience in an Assistant QS or QS role.
- Understands health and safety legislation implications.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
- Demonstrates ability to independently manage workload and meet strict deadlines.
- Shows eagerness for further training and professional growth.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational aptitude with multi-tasking and reprioritization skills.
- High attention to detail and a professional, approachable demeanor.
- Flexible and adaptable team player.
- Knowledge of CEMAR software is advantageous but not mandatory.
