Role Overview
The Assistant Manager Quality Assurance plays a pivotal role in upholding product excellence by overseeing inspections and tests on raw materials, intermediate, and finished products. This position also manages quality records via SAP QM, handles complaints from various stakeholders, spearheads continuous improvement projects, organizes ISO 9001 audits and Oeko-Tex® certifications, ensures chemical regulatory compliance, supports waste minimization strategies, and enforces health, safety, and 5S standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee inspection and testing processes for incoming, ongoing, and final products ensuring accurate entry of results into SAP QM.
- Develop and implement actionable strategies to enhance quality, boost productivity, and reduce costs.
- Conduct annual customer feedback surveys, offer technical assistance, and guarantee adherence to compliance requirements.
- Address and resolve complaints from customers, internal teams, and vendors promptly, with proper documentation in SAP QM.
- Coordinate and maintain ISO 9001 documentation and facilitate both internal and external quality audits across departments.
- Ensure timely renewal and maintenance of Oeko-Tex® certification standards.
- Act as the designated Chemical Officer to monitor and control restricted substances in collaboration with Procurement and global teams, adhering to Coats' RS List.
- Champion initiatives to reduce waste, including monitoring conversion factors and conducting profile reviews and reconciliation analyses.
- Maintain strict compliance with health and safety protocols and uphold exemplary 5S housekeeping practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Postgraduate qualification in Textile Science or Chemical Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in quality assurance within textile, chemical, or manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and audit methodologies.
- Practical knowledge of SAP QM or similar quality management platforms.
- Experience or understanding of Oeko-Tex® certification and chemical compliance is advantageous.
- Strong capabilities in analysis, problem resolution, and managing cross-functional relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, including technical report preparation.
