Role Overview
As the Assistant Director (Media), you will lead a team responsible for managing a range of healthcare-related issues to enhance public understanding and support for Singapore's healthcare system. Your role will involve fostering balanced and positive media coverage across various channels in a fast-paced environment requiring effective multitasking and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and mentor a team in handling media communications on diverse healthcare topics including healthcare financing, health services, mental health, workforce planning, ageing, and crisis communications.
- Provide strategic advice to divisions on media and public communication approaches, including developing and implementing messaging for Ministry of Health announcements and policies.
- Coordinate media coverage for MOH events and oversee media interactions, including facilitating engagement for senior leaders.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with media professionals and proactively identify opportunities to pitch relevant healthcare stories.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- Have a minimum of five years experience in communication or public relations, including at least two years in supervisory or leadership roles.
- Experience with media relations, stakeholder engagement, marketing communications, or journalism is advantageous.
- Demonstrate strong communication capabilities with aptitude for engaging and building rapport across various organizational levels.
- Exhibit strong critical thinking and sound judgment in managing complex scenarios.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic, fast-moving environment and successfully lead teams to results.
