About the Role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries seeks an Air Operations Officer to be based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role primarily involves coordinating ground operations for air transport, including managing passengers, luggage, cargo, and diplomatic pouches, with frequent internal and external travel. The position is open exclusively to Saudi nationals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the movement of passengers, baggage, cargo, and diplomatic pouches.
  • Support passenger check-in and boarding procedures; provide necessary travel briefings.
  • Supervise ground operations related to aircraft such as loading/unloading and refueling activities.
  • Assist flight crews with flight planning and provide updated weather information.
  • Track aircraft movements and communicate relevant schedules including arrivals, departures, and other operational updates.
  • Ensure proper receipt and filing of weight and balance documentation.
  • Secure required flight clearances, security and landing permits, coordinating with relevant authorities including airport officials, customs, immigration, and security.
  • Monitor changes in aviation regulations and airport procedures and distribute flight schedules to all involved parties.
  • Enforce adherence to Air Operations Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); monitor security and operational risk and report promptly.
  • Maintain collaboration with security contacts and stakeholders to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate administrative support including organizing visas, travel documents, transport, accommodation for staff, airport pickups, hotel bookings, and residence arrangements.
  • Liaise with ministries, consulates, and immigration to facilitate smooth operations and resolve travel or accommodation issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Welcome and AirOps teams for staff travel logistics.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant degree in fields such as logistics or aviation.
  • Fluent verbal and written command of both English and Arabic languages.
  • Proficient in computer applications within Windows environment, including Microsoft Office and online collaboration platforms.
  • Between one and three years of professional experience in related roles.
  • At least one year of experience working directly with airlines, flight departments, or airports.
  • Prior experience in air transportation or ramp operations is advantageous.
