About the Role
This position involves managing and improving software that schedules work crews, communicates jobs via text, and manages payments. The software operates live daily for real businesses, so accuracy and reliability are critical as errors impact real schedules and payments.
The core technology includes AI-generated code which requires human oversight to determine what features to build and to meticulously verify and correct the AI's output when it is incorrect. The role requires strong judgment and critical thinking rather than specific technical backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze vague issues like "the schedule is wrong sometimes" to identify root causes before making any changes.
- Define clear, detailed feature requirements including what the feature should and should not do prior to implementation.
- Use AI tools to develop features and carefully scrutinize the resulting code to catch any errors or malicious insertions.
- Conduct thorough testing with real data while features are disabled, then monitor performance after activation to prevent mass miscommunications.
- Respond promptly to failures by stopping issues quickly, assessing all affected areas, and correcting root causes comprehensively.
- Communicate succinct status updates daily so the team stays informed.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Demonstrates experience in building impactful, practical software projects that others have relied upon, regardless of technology stack.
- Does not accept "it works" at face value and goes beyond passing tests or dashboard indicators to verify functionality.
- Considers potential failure modes including invalid inputs, repeated jobs, timezone differences, and delivery confirmation discrepancies.
- Comfortable admitting uncertainty and proactively seeking answers.
Additional Information
There are no rigid educational or language prerequisites. The role requires sound judgment more than formal qualifications or years of experience. Candidates who prefer pre-defined tasks or uncritically accepting AI output may not find this position suitable.
Compensation: The starting salary is $1,000 per month, with reviews following the initial weeks and after demonstrated performance. Successful performance in this role leads to promotion opportunities to Client Lead, involving managing clients directly and higher pay.
Recruitment Process
- A timed 20-minute test assessing arithmetic, pattern recognition, and compliance with written instructions.
- Written situational questions related to the system (~2 hours).
- Review and analyze a repository with deliberately introduced errors and unfamiliar code (~4–5 hours).
- A live conversation covering real problems (~2 hours).
- A paid trial period lasting 2–4 weeks with ongoing review.
Initial steps 1–4 are unpaid; the paid trial starts from day one of real work. Most candidates do not progress beyond step 3, which reflects the high standards held.
