Role Overview

The Academic Governance Lead role is a full-time, on-site position based at PIHMS in New Plymouth. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing academic governance structures, policies, and systems to guarantee program compliance, maintain quality standards, and align with regulatory requirements such as NZQA. Responsibilities include organizing academic committees, driving curriculum review and development, supervising assessment and moderation processes, and supporting accreditation and audit activities.

The role requires collaboration across faculty, senior management, and external stakeholders to uphold academic integrity, improve student learning outcomes, and foster continuous enhancements in all academic programs. Additional duties involve generating reports, analyzing academic performance metrics, and offering clear guidance on academic policies to both staff and students.

Key Qualifications and Competencies

• Proven leadership experience in academic governance, managing policies, quality assurance frameworks, and ensuring compliance with tertiary education regulations.
• Expertise in curriculum design and review, supporting program development, assessment planning, and ensuring alignment with industry and accreditation requirements.
• Strong analytical capabilities, including data analysis, academic reporting, and making decisions based on evidence.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and engagement skills, capable of collaborating effectively with faculty, management, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
• Organizational proficiency and project management abilities, adept at coordinating committees, adhering to deadlines, and handling multiple priorities.
• Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in fields such as education, hospitality management, business, or related disciplines; experience within tertiary or vocational education environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with New Zealand tertiary education standards and NZQA protocols, or equivalent international regulatory frameworks.
