Workday Payroll Functional Consultant

Job Overview

Tata Consultancy Services invites seasoned professionals to join as Workday Payroll Functional Consultants within its Workday practice, based in Kolkata. This role demands extensive experience in configuring, implementing, supporting, and enhancing Workday Payroll systems along with a thorough grasp of payroll operations and stakeholder coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and document detailed payroll business requirements.
• Design and sustain Workday Payroll configurations tailored to organizational needs.
• Lead and contribute to implementation, support, and enhancement initiatives related to Workday Payroll.
• Identify gaps and offer recommendations aligned with Workday best practices.
• Set up payroll elements such as earning/deduction codes, pay groups, calendars, and processing regulations.
• Support various testing phases including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression tests, and payroll parallel runs.
• Collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, Benefits, Time Tracking, and Absence Management departments.
• Address payroll issues, troubleshoot system defects, and deliver ongoing production support.
• Develop functional specifications, user guides, and training materials.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience in Workday Payroll functional consulting.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes including payroll configuration, earnings and deductions, payroll tax setup, payroll reporting, and period-end activities.
• Proven experience in Workday implementations, rollouts, support, or transformation projects.
• Familiarity with Workday HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, and Time Tracking system integrations.
• Skillful in requirement gathering, configuration, testing, and deployment tasks.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Expertise

• Acquisition of Workday Payroll Certification.
• Experience handling payroll implementations across multiple countries.
• Proficiency with Workday Reporting, EIB, and various integrations.
• Understanding of Workday Studio and Payroll Interfaces.

Eligibility Criteria

• Between 6 to 10 years of overall professional experience.
• Relevant work history specifically in Workday Payroll.
• Completion of at least one complete Workday implementation or support project.
• Strong client-facing and communication capabilities.
• Flexibility to work at various TCS locations per business needs.
