About the role
This opportunity is with Mercor, a company that links high-caliber creative and technical professionals with top AI research labs. The business is based in San Francisco and is backed by investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
The position is for a Voice Actor focused on CX agent voice cloning in the USA. It is a remote contract role with an expected commitment of 5 to 10 hours each week. Compensation is set at $50 to $150 per hour.
What you will do
- Capture clean, high-quality voice recordings across a range of script styles, including conversational, narrative, and instructional content.
- Speak in a clear, natural, and expressive manner while maintaining strong control over pacing, pronunciation, and tone.
- Keep the voice, accent, and delivery style consistent across different recording sessions.
- Work according to detailed recording instructions, including setup of the recording space, microphone handling, and file formatting.
- Complete repeated takes when needed, adjusting emotion, emphasis, and vocal style as requested.
Who this role is looking for
- You must be a native American English speaker and currently located in the United States.
- You should already have experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcasting.
- You need access to a professional or near-professional recording setup, including a quality microphone, a quiet space, and a pop filter or similar equipment.
- A strong grasp of intonation, diction, and emotional expression is required.
- You must be able to follow scripts accurately while still sounding natural.
- You should be available for 5 to 10 hours per week throughout the project.
- You must be comfortable with the possibility that your voice may be cloned for a client’s CX AI agent.
Preferred background
- Prior work creating audio for text-to-speech systems, audiobooks, IVR platforms, or AI voice datasets will be an advantage.
- Experience using audio editing software such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or Reaper is helpful.
- Ability to switch between multiple delivery styles, such as conversational, corporate, energetic, and calm, is preferred.
