Position Summary
The Vice President of Project Development leads the formulation and execution of the company's strategic approach to initiating and advancing projects. This executive role manages the full lifecycle of project development—from identifying opportunities and evaluating feasibility to business planning, resource coordination, and securing project approvals, ultimately ensuring successful implementation. The role centers on catalyzing growth by launching new projects, developing business segments, and pursuing strategic investments.
Primary Duties
- Design and implement project development strategies that align with corporate goals.
- Discover promising projects, markets, and business ventures with strategic potential.
- Create and maintain project development management frameworks and standardized workflows.
- Continuously enhance and strategically position the project portfolio.
- Lead opportunity assessments, market research, and commercial feasibility studies.
- Prepare business cases and investment proposals to support project initiation and planning.
- Manage roadmaps for development and oversee project progression from concept through deployment.
- Establish and nurture business collaborations and strategic partnerships with clients, government entities, investors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Engage in significant commercial negotiations and formalize cooperation agreements.
- Promote innovations in joint development and resource sharing models.
- Conduct financial evaluations including ROI analyses, assess market trends, and analyze competitors and risks.
- Support M&A activities and strategic alliances with thorough investment evaluation mechanisms.
- Coordinate resources efficiently across project phases and departments to expedite approvals and execution timelines.
- Monitor project milestones, resolve critical challenges quickly, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations across the development life cycle.
- Implement risk management systems and contingency plans to mitigate potential threats.
- Drive ongoing improvements in development processes, leveraging digital management tools and data analytics to boost effectiveness.
- Build and oversee project development teams, fostering talent in business and strategic development.
- Develop performance evaluation and talent management systems to amplify team outcomes and cultivate an innovative, team-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Management, Engineering Management, Project Management, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines.
- Advanced degrees such as MBA or other relevant Master’s preferred.
- Over 10 years of experience in project or business development and strategic management, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Experience with large-scale, international projects or strategic investments is advantageous.
- Strong foundation in feasibility analysis, business case development, and project governance.
- Familiarity with multinational corporations or rapidly growing companies is favorable.
