About the Role
Northpower seeks a dependable Utility Worker dedicated to safety and teamwork. This physically demanding outdoor position involves supporting utility and infrastructure services by engaging in site preparation, labouring, and installation activities, all while adhering strictly to safety, quality, and environmental protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site setup including hazard identification and establishing safe work zones in alignment with Safe Work Practices.
- Carry out various labouring tasks such as trenching, digging, lifting, and installing equipment.
- Detect underground services and obstructions before excavation begins.
- Ensure availability and compliance of all tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Maintain unwavering focus on health, safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the work.
- Collaborate effectively within a team to fulfill operational, regulatory, and customer obligations.
- Promptly and accurately report any hazards, incidents, or near misses encountered.
- Professional conduct in all interactions with customers and the public representing the company.
Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in labouring or utility-related work is preferred.
- Capable of performing manual tasks including heavy lifting, trenching, and digging.
- Able to read and comprehend plans and obstruction diagrams.
- Enjoys working outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to safety.
- Holds full Class 1 & 2 driver’s licenses; Class 4, 5, and WTR endorsements are beneficial.
- Demonstrates an excellent safety record.
- Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.
