Overview
Nicholas O'Dwyer Ltd is committed to sustainability as a core value, with over 90 years of experience delivering engineering and infrastructure projects globally. Joining their Environment and Planning Department in Dublin offers the chance to work on a wide spectrum of sectors including water services, renewables, ports, aviation, flooding, and climate resilience.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage planning applications, including local authority and Strategic Infrastructure Development applications, addressing pre-planning consultations, further information requests, appeals, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Strategic Environment Assessments, planning, and environmental reports as assigned.
- Review and develop Appropriate Assessment documents including Screening Reports and Natura Impact Statements.
- Design effective planning and development strategies to support project goals.
- Engage and collaborate with statutory and non-statutory stakeholders such as local authorities, government agencies, and An Coimisiún Pleanála.
- Manage subcontractors and consultants performing specialist surveys and studies contributing to projects.
- Provide expert planning guidance to internal engineers and clients.
- Contribute technically to environmental assessment initiatives including research, data gathering, and analysis.
- Assist in preparing tender submissions for projects.
- Build strong client relationships and participate in client and project meetings as necessary.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Full professional membership or progress towards Chartership with recognized bodies such as IPI or RTPI.
- Solid understanding of Irish planning law, policy, and guidance frameworks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication prowess for report production and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven experience delivering successful planning outcomes and development strategies for infrastructure projects.
- Competency in preparing, reviewing, and submitting planning applications, including validation of drawings.
- Ability to interpret environmental documentation and data effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Capability to meet demanding deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Positive mindset, self-driven, pragmatic problem solver, flexible, and collaborative within multidisciplinary teams.
