Job description
Job Overview
As a Tendering Engineer at alfanar, the primary responsibility is to formulate detailed technical and commercial bids for electrical panels and switchgear products. This involves thoroughly analyzing customer requirements, generating cost estimations, selecting appropriate components, ensuring adherence to technical criteria, and collaborating with various internal and external parties to deliver accurate and competitive tender submissions on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs), EPC inquiries, customer specifications, and related tender documents.
- Interpret technical documentation such as single line diagrams, load lists, datasheets, electrical specifications, and project standards to guide proposal development.
- Create comprehensive technical and commercial proposals encompassing LV switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, distribution boards, capacitor banks, VFD panels, synchronization panels, and control panels.
- Formulate compliance declarations, identify technical deviations, and provide clarifications per project mandates, ensuring proposals are complete and delivered within deadlines.
- Develop detailed cost estimates grounded on technical needs and validated pricing data.
- Select approved products, components, and materials from authorized manufacturers to compile Bills of Materials for tender and costing purposes.
- Liaise with procurement teams and vendors to obtain necessary quotations and perform technical and commercial evaluation of these offers for accurate cost estimation.
- Optimize tenders to maintain competitiveness without sacrificing compliance or quality standards.
- Confirm adherence to relevant customer, consultant, utility, and international standards governing project execution.
- Validate technical parameters—fault levels, busbar ratings, IP ratings, separation forms, protection philosophy, and panel configurations—to assure specification conformance.
- Identify potential risks, ambiguities, or technical gaps and seek necessary clarifications.
- Participate actively in technical discussions and bid clarification meetings as required during the tender process.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with sales, design, procurement, vendors, clients, and consultants to provide comprehensive support throughout the tendering lifecycle.
- Support sales teams with technical insights, clarifications, and relevant proposal details.
- Collaborate with design and engineering units to validate the feasibility of proposed solutions.
- Assist post-award transition to project engineering and execution teams ensuring smooth handovers.
- Follow up on tender-related technical or commercial challenges with concerned departments to facilitate resolution.
- Maintain thorough records of tender submissions, estimation data, technical documents, and pricing references.
- Update and manage costing tools, standard Bills of Materials, and estimation databases as appropriate.
- Prepare regular bid status reports, tender summaries, and management updates to keep stakeholders informed.
- Uphold company policy compliance with regard to quality, safety, environmental standards, and procedural guidelines.

Academic & Experience Requirements
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and have between 4 to 6 years of related work experience.
Technical Competencies
- Capable of accurate cost estimation relevant to electrical panel tendering.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes associated with electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas industry standards and requirements.
