Position Overview
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is the primary recruiter responsible for end-to-end recruitment for specific roles. This position also assists with onboarding, HR reporting, compliance, workforce data management, and various HR operational functions. Collaborating closely with hiring managers, the role aims to attract, evaluate, and hire exceptional talent aligned with the Associations mission. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, possesses strong interpersonal skills, and can juggle multiple priorities within a fast-moving nonprofit environment spanning multiple states.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full recruitment lifecycle from requisition approval through offer acceptance for assigned openings.
- Partner with hiring managers to create recruitment plans, set hiring deadlines, and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Conduct candidate screenings assessing qualifications, experience, and alignment with organizational culture.
- Handle interview scheduling, candidate communications, and coordinate hiring team feedback and selection processes.
- Build and sustain candidate pipelines via proactive sourcing, networking, employee referrals, and outreach efforts.
- Extend verbal offers and collaborate with HR leadership to finalize offer documentation.
- Oversee pre-employment background checks and related compliance activities.
- Track recruitment metrics, providing updates on hiring progress, time-to-fill, candidate pipelines, and overall recruiting success.
- Ensure the recruitment process is inclusive and professional to maintain a positive candidate experience.
- Refer complex recruitment, compensation, or employee relations issues to the HR Manager as needed.
- Coordinate all new hire onboarding activities to enable smooth transitions.
- Work with IT, Payroll, hiring managers, and other departments to secure equipment, system access, and complete onboarding prerequisites before new hire start dates.
- Facilitate orientation sessions for new employees.
- Complete employment verifications, documentation, and policy acknowledgment procedures during onboarding.
- Support engaging onboarding practices to encourage long-term employee success.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR information systems ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Prepare and analyze recruitment data including applicant flow, source effectiveness, time-to-fill, and other hiring trends.
- Generate workforce reports covering headcount, turnover, vacancies, hiring activities, retention metrics, and HR dashboards.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze outcomes for enhancing retention and engagement.
- Assist with employee lifecycle processes including hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, and separations.
- Support compliance reporting and audits related to Affirmative Action Plans, EEO-1, VETS, California Pay Data Reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
- Produce ad hoc workforce analytics to aid organizational planning and decision-making.
- Establish cooperative partnerships with hiring managers and serve as a reliable recruitment consultant throughout hiring.
- Deliver exemplary customer service to candidates, employees, and leadership while upholding confidentiality and professionalism.
- Collaborate on HR team initiatives, process enhancements, and special projects.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements in recruiting, onboarding, and HR operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 1-2 years' experience in full-cycle recruiting or talent acquisition.
- Experience collaborating directly with hiring managers through the recruitment process.
- Familiarity using applicant tracking systems and HRIS platforms; JazzHR and UKG Ready experience preferred.
- Strong skills in interviewing, candidate evaluation, sourcing, and relationship management.
- Excellent organizational abilities with capacity to manage multiple searches and priorities concurrently.
- Good analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Experience supporting HR functions in a multi-state employer or nonprofit setting is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000, adjusted based on the candidates primary work location and other relevant factors such as experience and responsibilities. Merit increases may be offered based on performance.
