Additionally, the role critically involves facilitating community participation and social integration for those supported.

Additional Context

The Bruach Na Mara Service located in the Gaeltacht region of South Connemara provides support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to live in their native areas among family and friends, fostering full community engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must hold a solid general education background. A recognized qualification in intellectual disability or FETAC Level 5 certification is advantageous.

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.
  • Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors is desirable; full training will be offered.

Skills Required

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Effective team collaboration skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting individuals with disabilities.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Work hours can total up to 39 per week based on a seven-day and night roster. Candidates must be ready to work mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays, night shifts, and overnight sleep-ins as needed to meet service requirements.

The salary basis assumes a 39-hour workweek, with potential incremental credit given for prior verified public sector experience.

Tenure and Probation
