About the Role
Join the compassionate and professional team at Shannex as a Support Services Attendant working within the Glasgow Hall team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This role is a full-time, onsite position where you will contribute to making the community a welcoming and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning duties including dusting, polishing furniture, counters, shelves, walls, and window and door ledges.
- Sanitize sinks, toilets, and bath areas thoroughly.
- Replenish supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and restrooms consistently.
- Empty trash receptacles and transport rubbish to designated disposal areas.
- Maintain quality standards of food, presentation, dining room appearance, and timely service delivery.
- Ensure meals are visually appealing, served at correct temperatures and portion sizes.
- Report any equipment or temperature irregularities to supervisors promptly and take corrective steps as needed.
- Stay informed on daily menu changes and resident-specific dietary needs.
- Manage proper receipt and storage of food items.
- Prepare carts for fluid distribution, snacks, and night meals and assist in delivery when required.
- Collect resident meal feedback through various reporting methods.
- Sort laundry by type including linens, mops, and personal clothing and operate washing machines and dryers effectively.
- Load and unload laundry machines while setting appropriate drying levels.
- Organize clean laundry accurately, track linen quotas, and place items on carts for transport.
- Deliver clean laundry to resident areas using carts and pick up soiled laundry efficiently.
- Inspect laundry for damages such as tears or missing buttons and forward for repairs.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned to support community operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of High School or GED equivalent.
- Preferably at least one year of experience in commercial housekeeping or laundry services.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a valued asset.
- Successful candidates must pass a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check as applicable.
- Experience in food service or long-term care environments is advantageous.
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced setting.
- Availability for flexible work hours including days, weekends, and holidays.
