Position Overview
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for directing and managing the daily operations of Mid-Pacific's strength and conditioning programs, under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director – Sports Performance and Innovation and the Athletic Director. This position focuses on creating and delivering training sessions tailored to the developmental stages of student-athletes from grades 4 to 12, promoting their athletic performance, health, and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and operate the daily strength and conditioning programs for all sports teams.
- Develop and execute age-appropriate and sport-specific workout plans following long-term athlete development principles.
- Ensure all training is properly conducted with correct technique, progression, and adequate supervision.
- Lead individual and team training sessions scheduled before, during, and after school hours.
- Create strength and conditioning opportunities during academic free periods and alternative PE classes by collaborating with school leadership and staff.
- Support personalized and team performance initiatives aligned with sport type, athlete positions, and maturity levels.
- Apply injury prevention methods, mobility improvement programs, and recovery protocols, coordinating with athletic trainers for return-to-play processes.
- Educate student-athletes on nutrition, recovery, and holistic wellness.
- Collaborate closely with sports performance leadership, coaches, trainers, and faculty to align programming and monitor athlete progress, while effectively communicating with all stakeholders.
- Maintain all training facilities and equipment in a safe, organized, and professional condition, overseeing proper usage and recommending upgrades where needed.
- Assist in supervising and mentoring interns, part-time staff, and student aides.
- Comply with all relevant school, league, and safety regulations including concussion protocols and mandatory training for workplace safety and harassment prevention.
- Attend to regular work attendance and provide support onsite with required flexibility including evenings, weekends, and travel with teams as necessary.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Possession of current certifications such as CSCS, SCCC, PES or equivalents is desirable.
- Previous experience working with middle and high school athletes.
- Strong knowledge of long-term athlete development frameworks and injury prevention techniques.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills and the capacity to foster positive relationships with students, coaches, and staff.
Preferred Experience and Attributes
- Experience integrating strength and conditioning into school day schedules.
- Familiarity with sports technology and performance data management.

Work Schedule and Environment
Full-time, year-round role requiring approximately 40 hours weekly, with flexibility to accommodate practices, competitions, and travel. The position involves working indoors and outdoors across a large campus with varied terrain and includes exposure to weather conditions and moderate to loud environments.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Frequent walking and standing for prolonged periods, sometimes carrying equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Close visual acuity needed for teaching and demonstrating skills.
- Daily responsibilities demand multitasking, decision-making, problem-solving, and strong communication.
Safety and Compliance
- Strict adherence to school and league safety policies, including concussion, rest, and recovery protocols.
- Participation in mandatory safety and harassment trainings and maintaining first aid/CPR certifications.
- Proactive identification and mitigation of workplace hazards to ensure the well-being of oneself and others.
- Mandatory reporting of any suspected sexual abuse incidents to appropriate authorities.
