Role Summary

The Stores Operative position is a permanent role based at the Stansted site, reporting to the Stores Shift Leader. This role is essential in managing and supporting the daily activities of a fast-moving aviation stores department. It requires someone who can work flexibly, efficiently multitask, and maintain rigorous attention to detail within a dynamic work environment linked to aircraft engine maintenance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support daily Stores department operations including picking and issuing parts and consumables.
• Manage tools by booking them in and out, ensuring special attention to calibrated items.
• Maintain materials under proper storage and handling conditions that comply with regulatory and company standards.
• Manage shelf-life expiry tracking and conduct regular stock audits.
• Handle unserviceable parts by processing them into stock or scrap accordingly.
• Control and safely dispose of waste products following environmental and company policies.
• Receive, offload, and handle deliveries accurately.
• Coordinate dispatch of parts for returns, repairs, or transfers with suppliers and customers.
• Assist with loading or unloading aircraft engines and stands when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the work area.
• Remain cognizant of Human Factors influencing workplace safety and efficiency.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by management.

Additional Responsibilities When Acting as Receiving Inspector

• Physically inspect incoming parts.
• Verify accompanying paperwork meets regulatory and company requirements.
• Process parts into inventory with compliance to engine part acceptance standards.
• Stay informed on regulatory protocols and controls concerning suspected unapproved parts.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficient with computer systems; training on company software will be provided as necessary.
• Strong organisational capabilities combined with effective communication skills.
• Hold a full and clean UK driving licence.
• Prior experience in an aviation stores environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Knowledge or experience in goods receipt procedures and inspection within aviation stores is desirable.
• Possession of a forklift licence is preferred; however, forklift training is available where required.

Working Hours and Compensation

• The role follows a 5/4/4/5/4/4 shift pattern, working between 7 AM and 7 PM.
• Annual base salary is £30,189 with an additional shift premium of £7,500 per year.
• If certified as a Receiving Inspector, an extra £6,000 annually is payable.
