Overview
The Stores Manager will oversee the inventory and material provisioning aligned with plant requirements, aiming for optimal inventory levels and cost efficiency under established company policies, legal compliance, and budget constraints.
Primary Responsibilities
- Enforce adherence to day-to-day operational protocols, policies, and standard operating procedures for consistent and controlled execution.
- Maintain compliance with inventory management SOPs ensuring timely audits and inspections.
- Stay updated with industry best practices to propose continuous improvements in systems and processes.
- Conduct thorough inventory analyses, securing availability of necessary materials as per plant demands.
- Supervise disposal of surplus, obsolete, and spent catalyst materials following prescribed procedures.
- Prevent stock shortages or losses while managing pipeline inventory to assure an uninterrupted supply chain.
- Collaborate with the central inventory team to optimize inventory control and enhance system efficiencies.
- Manage receipt and issuance of materials promptly based on plant needs, handle stock reconciliation and transfers accurately, and address discrepancies effectively.
- Coordinate with purchasing to update purchase requisitions and orders regularly.
- Facilitate communication between central materials, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to resolve critical material management challenges.
- Create MIS reports and dashboards for detailed inventory classification and modeling including insurance items, stock-controlled goods, and movement trends.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure store operations comply fully with all statutory and regulatory mandates related to material management.
- Oversee strict application of Health, Safety, Environment, and Fire (HSEF) protocols along with FIFO/FEFO material handling methodologies.
- Participate in management audits of on-site materials and implement corrective measures as required.
People Leadership
- Support manpower planning for efficient daily operations.
- Ensure team members undergo necessary training in chemical safety, material handling, and other compliance areas.
- Monitor training completion and effectiveness to maintain a competent workforce.
- Mentor and develop team members to handle larger and more complex responsibilities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (any discipline; Mechanical preferred).
- Five to nine years' experience in supply management within plant operations, ideally with direct exposure to rotary equipment in petrochemical or refinery environments.
- Experience spans engineering, maintenance, planning, materials, automation, procurement, contracts and systems.
