SQL Server Database Administrator

Job Overview

This role focuses on handling complex SQL Server environments with responsibilities including designing and maintaining replication and data movement solutions to ensure database reliability, scalability, and performance throughout the technology infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and sustain high availability and disaster recovery systems such as clustering, availability groups, and replication frameworks.
• Develop and oversee intricate data replication architectures across extensive database estates.
• Continuously monitor database performance and proactively resolve stability and reliability concerns.
• Apply advanced tuning techniques using execution plans, wait stats, and profiling tools to optimize database performance.
• Analyze incidents thoroughly, identify root causes, and apply corrective actions effectively.
• Lead automation efforts with scripting and self-service tools to boost operational efficiency.
• Contribute to infrastructure modernization including cloud migration and optimization.
• Enforce database security, compliance, and governance by implementing encryption, auditing, and access management protocols.
• Produce and update technical documentation, operational runbooks, and standards.
• Mentor junior DBAs and support knowledge sharing across teams.
• Participate in critical incident management and provide on-call support when needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years progressive experience administering databases in enterprise settings.
• A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent disciplines.
• Expert proficiency with SQL Server or comparable relational database management systems.
• Hands-on experience with high availability, disaster recovery, and replication technologies.
• Strong capability in database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Knowledge of platforms like ClickHouse, FoundationDB, LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir), Rybbit, or Valkey.
• Experience working with cloud platforms and modern IT infrastructure environments.
• Deep understanding of security, compliance requirements, and data governance standards.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, able to manage critical situations autonomously.
• Excellent communication aptitude, working effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Team-oriented mindset focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
