Job description
Position Overview
This role involves delivering high-quality language services including proofreading, translation, transcription, and subtitling, all within agreed deadlines. The translator will collaborate transparently with project management, technology teams, and team leaders to resolve linguistic and content queries. Maintaining and developing terminology resources to guarantee consistency across all materials is essential, along with providing linguistic advice and guidance to designated departments. The candidate will lead internal linguistic projects and support ongoing process improvements, proactively identifying risks or schedule issues and proposing solutions.
AI & Technology Integration
The candidate will be responsible for assessing, implementing, and fine-tuning AI-supported translation, terminology, and quality assurance tools. High-level post-editing of AI-generated translations is required to meet FIFA standards. Identifying automation possibilities and recommending efficiency improvements are part of the role, along with monitoring AI tool performance, providing detailed feedback, and supporting system enhancement. The translator will contribute to the development of internal best practice guidelines for responsible and effective AI tool use.
Tools & Systems
Advanced proficiency in translation and subtitling software such as Trados and Ooona/Aegisub is necessary, along with strong skills in Microsoft applications. A solid understanding of translation technologies and digital workflow solutions is expected.
Candidate Profile
- Native-level Spanish (Spain) proficiency is mandatory; applicants primarily skilled in Latin American Spanish will not be considered.
- Between three to five years’ experience in a similar translation or localization role, ideally within dynamic, multilingual environments using AI-assisted tools and automation routinely.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the latest translation technologies including neural machine translation, AI-assisted computer-assisted translation tools, adaptive machine translation engines, terminology extraction, quality estimation models, and collaborative platforms.
- Ability to critically assess machine translation output and perform effective post-editing.
- Experience within the sports sector, particularly football, is highly advantageous, ensuring culturally accurate, context-rich translations sensitive to sports terminology and tone.
- Academic degree in Translation or equivalent, with formal training in English to Spanish translation and ideally a second language combination such as French, German, or Arabic into Spanish.
- Familiarity with linguistic quality standards, terminology management, and controlled language principles.
- Strong personal interest and knowledge of football to produce nuanced, credible translations meeting fan and industry expectations.
