About the Role
As an early career software engineer specializing in AI, you will help develop and enhance core user experiences, enabling faster and more intuitive value realization for users. Collaborating with design, product, and data teams, you will own meaningful projects, make important technical decisions, and contribute your unique viewpoint to shape the company's AI vision and product direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams to prototype and deploy AI-driven product enhancements.
- Manage scoped production projects involving model integration, monitoring, and optimization for latency, cost, and reliability.
- Participate in evaluation processes by creating test frameworks, running experiments, analyzing data, and translating insights into product improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Less than two years of professional engineering experience with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Experience or exposure to AI/ML through coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons, with skills to prototype and iterate rapidly.
- Familiarity with UI development, APIs, and relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL).
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, taking into account real-world impact and balancing complexity with business needs.
- Technology pragmatism focused on delivering user value rather than following trends, and keeping current with modern AI development tools.
- Effective communication skills with high ownership, proactive initiative, and independent problem resolution capabilities.
Preferred Skills and Interests
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, and Elasticsearch.
- An understanding of the societal implications of technology and a commitment to responsible development.
- An appreciation of historic computing pioneers and their influence on modern technology.

Fresh Ventures offers competitive compensation packages including cash salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits. For positions based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $130,000 to $150,000 per year depending on scope, complexity, and candidate experience.
