About the Role

The Wellbeing Workforce in the South East Region is expanding and focuses on supporting students from Prep to Year 12 with their mental health. This team works closely with students to ensure they stay connected, engaged, and receive support to maximize educational outcomes. We are seeking a full-time permanent Social Worker to join this team at Windaroo Valley State High School.

Social Workers in this workforce operate within the school environment and collaborate with school staff, overseen by clinical supervisors from the regional office. Their goal is to provide optimal care for students' wellbeing needs.

About Windaroo Valley State High School

Windaroo Valley SHS is a co-ed school for Years 7-12 with around 1,200 students, situated in the northern Gold Coast-Logan area. The school fosters an inclusive environment with a strong emphasis on academics, offering diverse educational options, excellence programs in STEM, Music, Japanese, Athletics, academic extension, and vocational training via a Trade Training Centre. Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students, parents, and families to help resolve personal and relationship issues.
• Conduct professional social welfare assessments, interventions, and follow-up support as needed for students and families.
• Identify and refer students and families to appropriate community health and welfare services.
• Develop and implement strategies to inform and engage parents/carers and the community in school activities.
• Serve as a liaison point for parents/carers and community to enhance school-community relations.
• Plan and organize public presentations to educate parents and community groups on social issues impacting student learning.
• Monitor, evaluate, and review school programs to ensure effectiveness within the educational setting.
• Support school communities during critical incidents and emergencies as part of the response team.
• Maintain confidential and accurate data collection and record-keeping systems aligned with departmental policies.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting school, community, and inter-agency networks relevant to this role.

Daily Work Environment

You will utilize your clinical expertise to deliver targeted therapeutic interventions addressing mild to moderate mental health issues in students. Collaborating with school staff and families, you will support student mental health, uphold high service standards, and contribute to innovative approaches in educational mental health support. Through mentorship and leadership, your role will significantly impact families and professional practices.
