Site Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Site Engineer for the Castletroy Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project. This role involves overseeing every stage of the project until its successful completion, ensuring effective collaboration across multiple teams and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with internal teams including planning, construction, design, commercial, and HSQE to fulfill responsibilities effectively.
• Engage with third parties such as local authorities, utility providers, and statutory bodies including An Garda Siochana.
• Develop Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Project Programmes, and Traffic Management Plans tailored to the project's needs.
• Conduct post-construction evaluations to support future project planning and assist in budget preparation.
• Administer the Road Opening License processes relevant to construction activities.
• Understand, communicate, and enforce the company’s Safety Statement and ensure awareness among all personnel under supervision.
• Maintain full comprehension of the project scope and promptly report any health and safety hazards related to underground services, ground conditions, or other potential risks to the Contracts Manager.
• Practice personal safety rigorously, especially when working near public roads or water bodies, by using appropriate protective gear and equipment.
• Ensure records of underground utilities installed are accurately maintained and properly marked throughout construction.
• Verify design calculations and temporary works certificates (e.g., scaffolds, falsework) through independent checks.
• Assume temporary Project Manager or Site Agent responsibilities concerning Health, Safety, and Environmental issues during their absence.
• Be proficient in the company’s HSQE management systems and familiar with current health and safety legislation or know how to access it.
• Understand contractual forms, program implications, cost and manpower impacts related to project variations or delays.
• Review and interpret specifications, drawings, and contract documentation.
• Perform site setting out, leveling, and surveying according to technical documents.
• Prepare labour, plant, and material reporting; manage as-built drawings, technical reports, and daily site diaries.
• Collaborate with purchasing to ensure purchase orders meet project specifications, requisition required materials and equipment.
• Maintain liaison with consultants, subcontractors, site supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and workforce to ensure efficient site operation.
• Supervise daily site activities including labor force and subcontractors' work to meet project deadlines.
• Organize site plant and facilities efficiently and coordinate with Project Managers regarding program schedules and constraints.
• Ensure adherence to all safety standards and solve technical issues with stakeholders and statutory authorities.
• Deliver quality control in line with company procedures, method statements, quality and inspection plans.
• Inspect materials and work progress to verify compliance with specified standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Holds a Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering to demonstrate role competency.
• Has 3 to 5 years of site engineering experience focused on civil engineering projects.
• Possesses strong skills in site setting out and coordination.
• Preferably studied Water or Wastewater related modules.
• Member of an appropriate Professional Institution.
• Holds a full, clean Irish or EU driver’s license.
• Legally authorized to work in Ireland, ideally with Stamp 4 or a Critical Skills Employment Permit.
