Sewer

Overview

This role involves operating sewing machinery and rollers to feed coated j-boxes with greige textile rolls. The position requires working the first shift at the Calhoun, GA facility.

Primary Duties

• Utilize computer systems to scan roll labels into the JIP program.
• Confirm the coating type and the weight of rolls being sewn.
• Label rolls with proper color-coded stickers when necessary.
• Control the console to unroll greige textile rolls.
• Sew turf tails together securely.
• Inspect seams to ensure they are straight and intact before feeding turf into the j-box.
• Feed turf into the j-box while maintaining its optimal level.
• Coordinate with console operators on line speed and product adjustments.
• Conduct self-maintenance tasks as needed.
• Adhere to all company, safety, and industry protocols to maintain a safe and productive working environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Basic arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various measurement units.
• Ability to solve practical work-related problems.
• Capability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and safety data sheets.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with supervisors and team leads.
• Fundamental computer literacy, including usage of the internet and spreadsheets.
