Overview
We are expanding our water infrastructure portfolio in Wellington and Auckland, seeking an experienced Water Project Manager based in Wellington to oversee multiple water supply and wastewater renewal projects. This role is integrated within a skilled Land & Water team, delivering growth and renewal initiatives across Wellington for diverse clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of capital works and renewal projects throughout the Wellington region.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and quality across several simultaneous projects.
- Coordinate efforts across multidisciplinary teams to meet delivery goals and deadlines.
- Assume full responsibility for assigned project components, including planning, execution, and progress reporting.
- Serve as the main point of contact with water clients to ensure clear communication and manage any issues.
- Supervise the preparation of design and project documentation, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and schedule requirements.
- Enhance delivery performance by actively managing risks, controlling changes, and optimizing schedules.
- Support construction phases by addressing technical inquiries, updating programs, and coordinating stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Senior project leader with experience at Lead Engineer or Project Manager level, proficient in handling complex water infrastructure projects and multiple concurrent tasks.
- Extensive experience in the water sector, ideally with public sector or local authority clients, familiar with regulated environments and long-term asset management programs.
- Strong engineering expertise to oversee scope, risk, quality, and constructability and to critically assess technical inputs for successful project delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering (or equivalent), with Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registration or progress toward it, plus eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Well-versed in project management and scheduling tools, with strong skills in reporting, document management, and Microsoft Office applications within large program environments.
