About ANZ
ANZ is focused on helping people and communities prosper, with a mission centred on improving the financial wellbeing and long-term sustainability of its customers. The organisation values diversity, flexibility, and a workplace culture that supports different backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
About the Role
This permanent Senior Technology Project Manager – Schemes position sits within ANZ’s cards ecosystem and is responsible for driving the full delivery of Card Schemes Compliance changes. The work is technically demanding and involves coordinating business compliance needs with broad, cross-platform technology change.
You will bring order, visibility, and assurance to quarterly releases and other approved scheme-related initiatives, helping multiple teams stay aligned in a complex delivery environment. The role acts as a bridge between business and technology, turning scheme obligations into actionable delivery plans and keeping senior stakeholders and governance groups informed with clear updates.
The role is based in Wellington or Auckland, with a standard work week of 37.5 hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the delivery of quarterly Card Schemes Compliance releases across several technology areas from end to end.
- Serve as the main coordination lead across teams, systems, dependencies, and competing priorities.
- Convert scheme requirements and compliance mandates into a structured and sequenced technology delivery plan.
- Track portfolio-wide scheme activity, including delivery risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints.
- Support governance and prioritisation discussions with concise, evidence-based reporting.
- Oversee resourcing needs and address capacity clashes or delivery threats early.
- Work closely with business partners, technology teams, and external vendors to achieve compliant outcomes quickly.
- Lead or support complex card switch and scheme-related initiatives within the wider portfolio.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate has proven experience delivering technology programmes in Card Schemes Compliance environments, particularly Visa and/or Mastercard, and has successfully led complex, cross-domain change in large regulated organisations. You should be comfortable operating at portfolio level and making sound judgement calls across multiple initiatives.
- Hands-on experience delivering complex, multi-platform technology change in large regulated environments.
- Strong governance capability, with the ability to produce clear reporting on delivery progress, financials, risks, and recommendations for leaders.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence bridging business and technology viewpoints.
- A solid understanding of delivery frameworks, controls, and governance, plus the flexibility to tailor your approach to each initiative.
- Strong planning, leadership, decision-making, and time management skills, along with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and vendors.
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-changing environments, plus the ability to coach, mentor, and strengthen capability across multidisciplinary teams.
