This opportunity suits engineers passionate about robotics, algorithm design, and cross-disciplinary system integration.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement global path planning algorithms suitable for expansive, dynamic indoor spaces, ensuring collision-free movement across multiple floors.
- Design and enhance comprehensive coverage path planning methods specifically tailored for cleaning robots.
- Build and sustain environmental mapping and costmap systems by integrating sensory data from perception and SLAM components to enable precise navigation.
- Apply and develop learning-driven planning solutions, including reinforcement and imitation learning, to improve the robot's adaptability and robustness in dynamic settings.
- Formulate extensive test scenarios to validate navigation algorithms and software performance across simulation and real-world deployments.
- Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation covering codebases and testing procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline with relevant focus.
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience working on navigation, motion planning, or coverage planning projects.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python programming within Linux environments.
- Practical experience with both ROS1 and ROS2 platforms accompanied by adherence to contemporary software engineering standards.
- Thorough knowledge of robot kinematics, dynamics, and diverse map representations such as occupancy grids, costmaps, and graph-based maps.
- Comprehensive understanding and use of graph and sampling-based global path planners including A*, D*, RRT*, and PRM.
- Implementation experience with full-coverage path planning algorithms.
- Acquaintance with trajectory optimization techniques and local path planning frameworks like TEB or Model Predictive Control (MPC).
- Familiarity with simulation environments such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or RViz to support algorithm development and validation.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for solving complex problems.
- Additional advantages include experience with learning-focused or hybrid planning algorithms and optimizing software for embedded processors or GPU accelerators.
