Job Summary

This role is a Senior IT Analyst position within the Azure Platform Services team of Caterpillar's IT division, based in Bangalore. The chosen candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining both Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions on Microsoft Azure across global environments. This position demands high technical expertise, collaboration with senior architects, and active contribution to cloud modernization, reliability, and automation initiatives vital for mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, migrate, and administer Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS environments, including components like Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, App Services, Functions, databases, storage solutions, and integration services.
• Adopt automation-first deployment strategies to implement cloud technologies that align with business needs.
• Follow and contribute to enterprise-wide cloud architecture, governance standards, and processes.
• Act as a subject matter expert providing technical support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization for cloud infrastructure within a complex, global networking context.
• Collaborate with senior cloud engineers, architects, and international teams, assisting in documentation, training, and knowledge sharing to ensure smooth platform adoption.
• Develop automated infrastructure deployment tools using scripting and DevOps technologies including PowerShell, Python, YAML, ARM templates, Azure DevOps, Azure CLI, Java, NodeJS, and Bash.
• Contribute to establishing standardized templates and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices to ensure repeatable and reliable deployments.
• Implement secure-by-design principles encompassing identity management (Managed Identity, RBAC, Key Vault) and network security to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
• Take part in Logical Technical Architecture reviews, cloud governance alignment, and implement monitoring, logging, disaster recovery, backup, and vulnerability remediation procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of seven years' experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies in application development, operations, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• Comprehensive hands-on expertise with Azure core services including IaaS elements (Virtual Machines, VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Storage, Azure Site Recovery) and PaaS offerings (App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Hub, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB).
• Strong experience in automating deployment processes with PowerShell, Python, JSON, YAML, and using CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps or equivalent.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot distributed systems and operate within a vast global network.
• Demonstrated ability to independently handle development and deployment tasks, including responding to off-hour support requests.
• Competence in conducting integrated and customer acceptance testing to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT field, Azure certifications (such as AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-500, AI-900), SCRUM methodology experience, and security compliance background.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Skills and Knowledge

• Technical proficiency advising and mentoring on cloud infrastructure and technical solutions.
• Experience in hardware infrastructure evaluation, integration, and maintenance.
• Knowledge in requirement analysis, system testing, systems software infrastructure, technical troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Work Schedule and Location

This role requires working five days a week on-site at Caterpillar's Bangalore location.
