About the Role and Company

Skeleton Technologies seeks a motivated and skilled Senior Hardware Engineer to join their Engineering Department at the Markranstädt site in Germany. This role involves working on cutting-edge energy storage technologies aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and advancing net-zero goals. Skeleton Technologies is an internationally recognized Cleantech leader specializing in supercapacitors and SuperBattery products with state-of-the-art curved graphene technology.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Translate system-level specifications into detailed hardware designs, managing over 100 electronic devices annually.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, cost constraints, and client requirements throughout development phases.
  • Perform thorough risk assessments, including FMEA and FTA analyses, to enhance reliability and redundancy.
  • Create electronic concepts, select components, and develop schematics, PCB layouts, wiring, and interfaces with attention to functionality, EMC/EMI compliance, environmental factors, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct electrical simulations and rigorous testing to validate system performance and support manufacturing partners in DFM/DFT processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation such as design logs, reports, manuals, and production materials.
  • Promote hardware quality by validating tests, drafting specifications, and collaborating closely with test engineering teams.
  • Define and verify end-of-line testing procedures including the design of testing equipment, fixtures, and software; analyze yield and failure modes to foster continual enhancements.
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve design or process issues.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, and production teams to guide product building efforts.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of five years experience in electronics design for small to large scale production environments.
  • Practical experience transitioning designs to production, incorporating principles of DFM, DFT, industrialization, and test setup development.
  • Expertise in end-of-line testing, yield and failure analysis, and implementing continuous improvements during production ramp-up.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams composed of hardware, software, mechanics, testing, and production professionals.
  • Strong capabilities in schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, simulation, prototyping, and validation testing.
  • Proficient use of Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD tools; experience with LTspice, Matlab, or comparable simulation software.
  • Competent in documenting technical work and performing basic data analysis using tools like Excel.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electronics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or embedded systems.
  • Fluent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Self-driven, meticulous, analytical thinker who is eager to continually learn and improve.

Benefits and Work Culture

  • Flexible working hours with options for remote work and no core working hours, promoting autonomy in idea implementation.
  • Flat organizational hierarchy fostering an excellent and supportive work atmosphere.
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional growth within the company.
  • An additional day off granted every year on the employee's birthday.
