About Economic Development Queensland (EDQ)
Economic Development Queensland is a government agency dedicated to unlocking land and speeding up the delivery of housing, planning, and infrastructure projects to create liveable communities and stimulate economic growth across Queensland. Empowered by the Economic Development Act 2012, EDQ uses special planning and approval powers to unlock complicated developments and bring ready-to-develop land to market, supporting secure, affordable housing and vibrant local communities.
Role Overview
In the capacity of Senior Development Manager, you will spearhead a portfolio of property development initiatives throughout Queensland, overseeing these projects from acquisition through to completion. Your duties will include leading site assessments, negotiating commercial agreements, and managing contracting processes to bring lands to market-ready conditions. Acting as a strategic lead for your team, you will coordinate with private developers and government bodies to advance Queensland's housing pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct site acquisitions, conduct thorough due diligence, and develop project plans for portfolios valued between $20 million and $200 million.
- Lead comprehensive commercial negotiations, managing all contracting and transactional procedures from start to finish.
- Supervise the delivery of enabling infrastructure essential for preparing land for market launch.
- Maintain and advance strategic partnerships with government entities, industry participants, and local communities.
- Guide and enhance the skills and performance of a team of property professionals.
- Offer strategic counsel to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of EDQ.
- Travel across Queensland approximately once per month as required for project oversight.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in property development, land subdivision, master development, or related built-form roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Property, Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven expertise in land acquisition, sales processes, and integrating land into development pipelines.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop team capabilities and competencies.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with proactive engagement of both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Business-oriented mindset capable of navigating complex negotiations and managing detailed transactions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
