Role overview
This position is for an experienced SAP Basis consultant with strong expertise in administration and architecture across SAP landscapes, especially S/4HANA, SAP HANA, NW Java, Business Objects, or SAP Convergent Charging. Exposure to Web Dispatcher or SAP Cloud Connector is considered an added advantage.
Key responsibilities and technical work
- Administer SAP Basis landscapes and support architecture-related activities across SAP applications.
- Work on ABAP and Java systems and support related application environments such as BOBJ BI, BODS, Content Server, OpenText, and Convergent Charging when required.
- Carry out system copy activities and the post-migration tasks that follow them.
- Manage databases such as HANA or Sybase ASE, with additional value from experience in DB2 or MSSQL.
- Handle client administration tasks including client creation, copy, and deletion.
- Perform upgrade-related work such as kernel upgrades/downgrades, patching, and support package upgrades for ABAP, Java, and dual-stack systems using SUM.
- Administer users, including user creation, password resets, unlocks, and role/profile maintenance in PFCG.
- Manage SAP licenses for ABAP, Java, and HANA systems.
- Configure and support transport management and TMS processes.
- Set up and maintain RFC connections between DEV, QAS, and PRD systems.
- Introduce technical changes in a controlled way that reduces risk while improving reliability, availability, and performance.
- Monitor SAP environments by checking work processes, user activity, system logs, and short dumps.
- Investigate short dumps and resolve technical issues through root-cause troubleshooting.
- Use SAP Service Marketplace to search for relevant SAP Notes and obtain required patches.
- Support SAP HEC-related tools such as LVM, SPC, SISM, PASSVAULT, CAM, DED, and TIC when applicable.
Experience and qualification requirements
The role requires at least 7 years of professional experience in SAP Basis administration and SAP architecture. Candidates should have practical exposure to S/4HANA or related SAP technologies, along with strong troubleshooting ability and hands-on system administration experience.
