Senior Advisor, Engagement

About the Role

This permanent position is based at the National Office in Wellington, New Zealand, within Te Poutāhū (Curriculum Centre). The Senior Advisor, Engagement will work closely with the Lead Advisor Engagement to deliver exemplary communications and stakeholder engagement for key education initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and executing engagement strategies supporting curriculum transformation efforts.
• Organize and manage core engagement activities, communication channels, and feedback mechanisms.
• Establish and nurture strong connections with diverse communities, peak organizations, and education sector leaders.
• Support change management by producing clear, consistent, and culturally aware communications such as newsletters, presentations, and informational resources.
• Offer expert guidance on media relations, messaging, and risk management aligning with Ministry priorities.
• Coordinate with other Ministry teams to ensure unified messaging and a cohesive narrative across all communications.

About Te Poutāhū

Te Poutāhū leads the national curriculum and associated assessment systems, developing inclusive educational services serving teachers, leaders, students, and their families. The group integrates expertise in te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, disability support, and culturally relevant content to foster inclusive learning environments.

Additional Information

• Salary range for this role is NZD 85,225 to 103,071 annually, including KiwiSaver, with actual remuneration based on experience and skills.
