Role Summary
FcC is looking for a full-time remote Scratch & Python Mentor to teach live online coding lessons for children and teenagers. The role involves introducing learners to programming through Scratch and gradually moving them into Python, while making concepts easy to understand and relevant to their age and skill level.
What You Will Do
- Prepare engaging lessons that follow FcC’s curriculum and learning goals.
- Conduct interactive virtual classes and keep students actively involved throughout the session.
- Explain programming ideas in a way that suits different ages and learning styles.
- Track learner progress, review performance, and provide helpful feedback.
- Create or assign exercises, practice work, and projects that strengthen logic and problem-solving.
- Stay in touch with caregivers whenever needed to support the learner’s development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
- Work with the academic team to improve teaching resources and lesson delivery.
Skills and Requirements
The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching Scratch and Python and able to clearly explain core concepts such as loops, conditionals, variables, functions, and basic data structures in a child-friendly way. Experience mentoring or teaching children and teens in coding, STEM, or related areas is preferred, especially in online or classroom environments. Strong communication, classroom management, and facilitation skills are important, along with a patient and encouraging teaching style. The role also calls for the ability to design or adapt hands-on coding activities that build creativity and computational thinking, as well as familiarity with online teaching tools, video conferencing, shared coding platforms, and digital collaboration software. Good organization, lesson planning, time management, and regular progress tracking are also expected. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent practical experience in teaching programming is also acceptable. Experience with after-school programs, coding bootcamps, or education-focused startups will be an added advantage.

Applicants should be able to contribute to an inclusive and respectful learning environment and work well with students from varied backgrounds. The role is open to candidates with either formal qualifications or relevant hands-on experience in programming instruction.
