Role overview
Irish Wheelchair Association is inviting applications for a permanent 39-hour position based in Waterford. The post supports Assisted Living Services for children, adults with physical disabilities, and older people, helping to ensure a consistent, person-centred service through close coordination with ALS teams, colleagues, staff, and members.
Main duties
- Handle incoming calls for the service.
- Build and update staff rosters so service delivery remains continuous.
- Arrange cover for absences linked to training, sick leave, annual leave, and long-term leave.
- Keep absence records and other relevant information updated across ALS systems and share regular updates with the line manager.
- Stay in regular contact with members and ALS staff about day-to-day changes, or as required.
- Support ALS Coordinators with measures that strengthen PA support, including recruitment, induction, shadowing and introductions, probation, supervised practice, and peer support meetings.
- Follow all established organisational policies and procedures.
- Look for and help implement improvements that increase efficiency and service quality, including support with system roll-out and development.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with regional ALS colleagues.
- Take part in and help lead ALS project initiatives in discussion with ALS management.
- Work in a flexible, efficient, and adaptable way at all times.
Training and experience
A Level 6 qualification or higher is required, such as QQI Supervisory Management Skills or a BA in Social Care, Allied Health, Community Development, Disability, or Business Management. Previous experience in scheduling or rostering complex processes would be a strong advantage. Experience in office work, customer management, and supervision is also desirable.
Skills and competencies
The role calls for strong IT ability, especially with database systems, scheduling/rostering software, CRM platforms, and other database applications. Applicants should also bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong planning and organisation, the ability to prioritise multiple tasks, a solution-focused mindset, good problem-solving ability, analytical and interpretive skills, strong attention to detail, and fluent English.
