Role Overview
Tata Consultancy Services is looking for an SAP ABAP professional to join its Kolkata team. This position is suited to candidates with strong hands-on consulting experience in SAP technical development, preferably those who can join right away.
Experience and Technical Scope
The role calls for around 4 to 8 years of experience overall, with at least 3 to 6 years working as a technical consultant in one or more SAP areas such as ABAP, Fiori/UI5, or BTP. Exposure to multiple SAP modules is also expected.
Documentation and Delivery
The selected candidate should be comfortable creating detailed technical documentation, including technical specifications from functional requirements, design documents with object flow and interface mapping, unit test cases with recorded outcomes, and technical user manuals or KT material.
Primary Technical Skills
For the ABAP track, the candidate should be well-versed in RICEFW development, object-oriented ABAP, enhancements such as user exits and BAdIs, ALV reports, form development, IDoc processing, BAPI/RFC integration, and conversion tools like BDC and LSMW. Familiarity with CDS and OData is also helpful.
For the Fiori/UI5 track, experience is expected in SAPUI5 controllers and views, XML fragments, component routing, OData consumption, FLP setup, and adapting or extending standard applications. Basic CAP knowledge is a plus.
For the BTP track, relevant knowledge includes CAP/RAP services, destinations and connectivity, XSUAA authentication basics, awareness of CI/CD on BTP, and integration or event-driven patterns using CPI or Integration Suite.
Integration and Security
The role also requires exposure to integrations between SAP and non-SAP systems using IDoc, BAPI, RFC, APIs, file interfaces, OData, REST, and SOAP. Depending on the track, familiarity with CPI, PI/PO flows, and basic security or authorization concepts is expected.
