Position Summary
The Sandwich Maker is a crucial member of the Culinary team responsible for producing a wide array of sandwiches and specialty items in support of the bagged lunch program. The role requires working both day and night shifts and collaborating with Culinary leads to ensure attractive and well-prepared sandwich offerings.
Work Environment and Amenities
- This position is based in a remote camp setting at the Moosonee, ON project site.
- All meals and accommodations are provided.
- Travel to and from the site is arranged from designated locations.
- Private rooms feature cable television.
- Wi-Fi access is available.
- Laundry facilities and detergents are provided.
- Gym and common area amenities are accessible.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sandwiches according to standard recipes including specialty fillings like egg salad and tuna.
- Ensure proper food rotation to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Oversee daily sandwich setup operations.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace, complying with hygiene standards for floors, counters, shelves, fixtures, refrigerators, and walls.
- Inspect cold food items visually to ensure appealing color combinations and presentation.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock of all sandwich varieties.
Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale cooking in camp settings, banquet halls, or hotels is highly regarded.
- Prior sandwich-making experience at a mass-production level is preferred.
- Valid Food Safe certification is an asset.
- Commitment to a work rotation of 2 weeks on followed by 2 weeks off.
- Strong teamwork skills and dedication to customer satisfaction.
- Possession of government-issued photo ID required for site travel.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
- Physical capabilities including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders or stairs, standing/walking/kneeling for extended periods, performing repetitive manual tasks, and working with arms at and above shoulder height.
