Job Overview

The Safety Executive (E1) supports the Safety Manager in upholding safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant daily operations. This role involves oversight of ramp and terminal activities, hazard identification, unsafe condition reporting, facilitating incident investigations, and advocating the Safety Management System (SMS) within the organization. The executive bridges communication between operational teams and the safety department, fostering proactive safety practices and continuous enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe operations to detect unsafe behaviors, conditions, and SOP breaches.
  • Gather precise data on safety violations, hazards, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Liaise effectively between operations and the Safety Department.
  • Lead or assist in investigating incidents with root cause analysis and prepare reports featuring corrective action recommendations.
  • Ensure consistent reporting of accidents, incidents, and near misses by operational staff.
  • Promptly report any unsafe or unusual incidents to Safety Officer/Manager.
  • Monitor staff conduct and escalate unsafe actions for remedial measures.
  • Support audits, safety talks, inspections, and awareness campaigns.
  • Manage SMS documentation, maintain records, and aid in compliance reporting.
  • Contribute to safety training programs and safety communication efforts.
  • Take on delegated duties and additional responsibilities from the Safety Manager as required.
  • Coordinate and promote participation in emergency response drills and exercises.
  • Accountable for the safety, quality, and security of operations within assigned areas.
  • Report deviations from safety, security, or operational standards to supervisors promptly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Safety certifications like SMS, QMS, NEBOSH, IOSH, Industrial or Aviation Safety are advantageous.

Experience and Skills

  • At least 12 months of civil aviation experience.
  • Ramp supervision experience is desirable.
  • Mandatory proficiency with computer systems.
