Position Overview

We invite skilled estimators to join our team as Residential & Medium Density Estimators. Reporting directly to the Director and collaborating with various teams, you will produce accurate and competitive cost estimates for detached and medium-density residential projects. Your role also involves enhancing BXW's costing systems, pricing strategies, and expanding into commercial and industrial project estimation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for detached homes and medium-density residential developments.
• Continuously develop and refine pricing structures for BXW's standard home range, supporting both sales and production teams.
• Generate detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and pricing details for medium-density projects.
• Collaborate with the Wholesale Sales team to design competitive house and land packages, investor offerings, and project-specific pricing.
• Analyze and verify quantity take-offs and BOQs derived from Archicad models and design documentation.
• Update estimates in response to changes in supplier prices, chosen products, and construction methods.
• Partner with the Design team to enhance construction feasibility, documentation accuracy, cost estimation, and product design.
• Work with the Construction team to integrate feedback from completed projects, boosting future estimation accuracy.
• Maintain pricing databases, cost templates, and estimating software data libraries.
• Identify and apply value engineering solutions while preserving quality, compliance, and practicality.
• Assist in refining estimating workflows, systems, and processes.
• Support estimating activities for industrial and commercial developments including warehouses, factories, and childcare centers as the company grows.

Candidate Requirements

• At least five years of experience estimating within the Australian residential construction sector.
• Proven skills in estimating detached homes and medium-density residential projects.
• Familiarity with modern estimating software platforms such as Evolve, Databuild, or Buildxact.
• Strong knowledge of Australian residential construction techniques, sequencing, and documentation standards.
• Ability to review and interpret quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities accurately.
• A proactive, systems-oriented approach aiming to enhance processes using technology and standardization.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience specifically using Evolve estimating software.
• Background working in volume home or medium-density building sectors.
• Exposure to estimating for industrial or commercial construction projects.
