Position Overview

The Quality Specialist II at SRHS drives the clinical data review process, implementing and refining methodologies across the acute care spectrum to promote superior patient outcomes. Responsibilities include retrospective and concurrent medical record reviews, data capturing for compliance and quality registries, and collaborating with clinical teams to advance quality initiatives. This role also serves as a resource in regulatory surveys and supports the education and onboarding of new Quality Specialists.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, enter, and validate clinical data from electronic health records into designated databases and comparative registries.
• Develop and deliver reports detailing organizational performance aligned with registry and regulatory standards.
• Ensure adherence to current data definitions and requirements set by CMS, DNV, and national registries.
• Engage in regulatory and registry committee meetings to support ongoing quality improvement.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and leadership on process enhancements derived from data findings.
• Identify and escalate quality improvement opportunities to appropriate departments and leadership.
• Educate staff and stakeholders on registry measures, regulatory requirements, and quality topics.
• Participate in audits conducted by CMS and other national quality organizations.
• Support mentorship and onboarding initiatives for new Quality Specialist associates.
• Balance multiple registry assignments across various sites within the organization.
• Communicate effectively and manage time efficiently to meet workload demands independently.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Educational background of a BS, BSN, or BA in healthcare administration, nursing, health informatics, or related fields with at least seven years acute care experience; alternatively, an associate degree with nine years in acute care.
• At least seven to nine years of experience working in an acute care environment.
• Minimum of four years experience in a quality services role such as Quality Specialist or Performance Improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic health record systems.
• Competence in data collection, analysis, and CMS-related quality measure reporting.
• Familiarity with DNV, CMS, and national registry standards across multiple service lines including cardiovascular, orthopedics, stroke, and other specialties.
• Valid state healthcare licensure if applicable.
• Completion or commitment to complete Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification within 12 months.
• At least 8 hours of continuing education related to registry specialty or healthcare quality annually.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced acute care experience of eight to ten years.
• Five or more years in quality services roles.
• Certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
