Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Inspector for a 12-month contractual position based in Lafayette, Indiana. This role focuses on inspecting product quality and supporting continuous improvement processes within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine rejected items originating from incoming quality inspections and the production floor.
- Investigate significant quality problems, develop clear problem statements, and relay findings to cross-functional teams.
- Oversee and coordinate containment efforts such as sorting and rework to limit production disruptions caused by quality issues.
- Assist in problem-solving initiatives and projects aimed at continuous improvement.
- Manage the handling and authorization of Process Change Notifications and deviations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess 2 to 4 years of experience in the manufacturing sector.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or have equivalent relevant experience.
Technical Competencies
- Skilled in data collection and analytical evaluation.
- Strong problem-solving abilities combined with critical thinking.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints effectively.
- Familiarity with gauges and measurement tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledgeable about internal combustion engines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or science fields.
- Certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
