Job description
Job Overview
As a Quality Controller specializing in blasting and painting operations, you will be responsible for conducting thorough quality inspections and monitoring activities to ensure strict compliance with project specifications, work instructions, and quality management standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out quality inspections and verifications related to blasting and painting activities to uphold quality standards outlined in project documents.
- Supervise and perform quality control inspections aligned with Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
- Track project progress and promptly notify supervisors of any issues or delays for timely problem-solving.
- Ensure full adherence to inspection and testing protocols applicable to assigned projects.
- Conduct in-process and final painting inspections aimed at preventing rework and ensuring high-quality results.
- Recommend halting work immediately and initiate corrective actions if non-compliance with quality standards is detected.
- Collaborate with superintendents, class surveyors, paint representatives, and third-party inspectors to coordinate and complete coating inspections on schedule.
- Maintain compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and quality requirements throughout operations.
- Document inspection outcomes and maintain thorough records supporting compliance efforts and continuous enhancements.
- Engage in training programs to build team expertise and knowledge concerning quality control standards and procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Certification in NACE Level 1 and/or FROSIO.
- A minimum of three years' relevant experience in coating inspections, production supervision, and related coating operations.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient in interpreting international codes and classification rules applicable to coatings.
- In-depth knowledge of coating inspection tools and their application.
- Experience in shipyard, marine, offshore, or industrial engineering environments.
- Good command of English language, both spoken and written.
Additional Information
Computer literacy is required to perform documentation and inspection reporting effectively.
