Role Overview

The Quality Control Chemist will be part of a dynamic team of five, located at the Pinkenba manufacturing site, and will report to the Quality Lead. The incumbent will carry out quality control testing of finished products, raw materials, and incoming goods in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), ensuring the products meet Bayer's specifications as well as APVMA regulations. Collaboration with the quality team, production, and onsite support will be essential to ensure timely release of products in line with dispatch deadlines.

Work Hours

The role involves shifts and possible overtime, typically working eight-hour shifts between 6 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays from 6 am to 12 pm. During shift work periods, availability from 2 pm to 10 pm Monday to Friday is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical and physical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to verify quality specifications.
  • Inspect and approve incoming materials such as raw ingredients, labels, and packaging within 48 hours of receipt based on set criteria.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate testing outcomes.
  • Investigate any Out of Specification (OOS) results promptly, following procedures to identify causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Update and maintain all laboratory documentation and generate detailed reports.
  • Manage product dispatch in compliance with ADG, IATA, and IMDG regulations.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate outstanding attention to detail and strong prioritization skills.
  • Capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Show a firm commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
  • Previous experience in a quality control laboratory setting is advantageous.
  • Experience with HPLC and GC instrumentation is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and ideally Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards is preferred.
