Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Overview

Located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, we seek an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer with over two years of experience to enhance the quality of our software products. This role requires enthusiasm for detecting issues before they reach end-users, expertise in both manual and automated testing, and a collaborative spirit suited to Agile development environments.

Main Responsibilities

• Create, update, and manage automated testing scripts for web applications and APIs.
• Conduct manual testing activities, including functional, regression, integration, and system tests.
• Develop and run test cases derived from business requirements and user stories.
• Identify, record, and monitor software defects with tools like Jira.
• Execute API testing using Postman or related software.
• Work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure product reliability.
• Verify bug resolutions and perform regression testing prior to software releases.
• Engage actively in sprint planning sessions, daily stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Participate in efforts to enhance testing methodologies and expand automation coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline.
• More than 2 years of experience in software quality assurance roles.
• Proficiency with automation testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalents.
• Competency in API testing via Postman or similar tools.
• Basic programming or scripting skills in languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
• Solid understanding of SQL and experience with database testing.
• Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum project management methodologies.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving aptitude, and effective communication skills.
• High attention to detail with a strong commitment to software quality delivery.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in REST API testing.
• Exposure to performance and load testing techniques.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud service platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Certification such as ISTQB is considered a bonus.
