Qualified Locomotive Driver

About the Role and Company

Pacific National, Australia's largest private rail freight company, is seeking a qualified Locomotive Driver for a permanent position based in Parkes, NSW. We operate around the clock, 24/7, transporting essential freight such as coal, containers, steel, and bulk commodities across the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate intermodal freight locomotives in compliance with safety regulations, driver accreditation, and operational procedures.
• Ensure adherence to daily train schedules and plans while prioritizing safety and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate closely with Train Control, customers, and internal teams to promote safe and reliable train operations.
• Prepare and provision locomotives by conducting system checks, testing controls, and completing necessary compliance paperwork.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and basic servicing of locomotives.
• Contribute proactively to achieving safety, customer satisfaction, and operational performance objectives.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a qualified locomotive driver with a Certificate IV in Train Driving (certificate required upon application).
• Strong commitment to safety and disciplined operation standards.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills.
• Customer-focused mindset aiming for continuous improvement.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
• Current, unrestricted driver’s license.
• Availability to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including both local and barracks placements.
• ARTC Network and Safe Working qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
