QC Inspector (Mechanical Static)

Role Summary

An international workforce solutions company is seeking a QC Inspector specializing in Mechanical Static disciplines to join a major Oil & Gas project in Qatar. The ideal candidate will possess a Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering background along with hands-on experience overseeing quality control in multi-disciplinary construction environments within the oil & gas sector.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering.
• Required certifications: CSWIP 3.2 / AWS-SCWI Senior Welding Inspector and NDT Level II (ASNT, ISO, or equivalent).
• Preferred certifications: BGAS Grade-2 or NACE Level 2 Painting Inspector certifications, or equivalents from recognized global bodies.
• Formal QC training and professional membership with recognized chartered or professional engineering institutions is highly preferred.

Experience Requirements

• At least 10 years experience for candidates with a bachelor's degree; 15 years for those with a technical diploma, preferably within the GCC region.
• Proven practical knowledge of storage tank inspection, piping, pipeline welding examination, and installation of static and rotating equipment.
• Sound understanding of QC practices and varied testing requirements relevant to large-scale oil, gas, and petrochemical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply the company’s management systems within your scope of work, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and proactive participation in safety initiatives affecting project construction.
• Oversee inspections, testing, and punch listing activities, maintaining thorough documentation that complies with the project's Quality Plan, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and other contractual requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, third parties, and project end users to ensure effective communication and adherence to quality standards.
• Supervise calibration and usage of all measuring and testing equipment to guarantee validity and traceability.
• Conduct site surveillance to detect potential or existing non-conformances and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
• Review and support approval of contractor QA/QC documentation including quality control plans, inspection/testing procedures, welding procedure specifications, and personnel qualifications.
• Monitor contractor performance for fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing activities affecting structural steel, piping, pipelines, tanks, and static or rotating equipment installations.
• Witness and verify all welding, NDT, PWHT, hardness tests, pressure tests, alloy verifications, and painting processes to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Support corrective action follow-ups and track non-conformance trends to inform quality assurance strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive quality assurance and quality control records and documentation.

Additional Information

Duties require collaboration with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, necessitating strong ability to interact effectively with contractors and colleagues at all levels. Experience in GCC based Oil & Gas projects is considered advantageous.
