Job description
About the Role
Join ABB in the Greater Nashik Area as a Purchase Engineer contributing to the Electrification business's Distribution Solution division. You will play a crucial role in procuring materials that meet technical specifications, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with corporate procurement policies. This position reports to the Procurement & Logistics Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and initiate Purchase Orders based on requisitions following established procedures.
- Confirm delivery timelines with suppliers and monitor their performance against purchase order requirements.
- Negotiate contracts and renew pricing and terms with key suppliers periodically.
- Recommend framework agreements for management approval and implement them once approved.
- Analyze and assess supplier bids to select the most cost-effective options.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a full-time program.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, including creating purchase orders and managing vendors/suppliers.
- Proven expertise in inventory management and monitoring suppliers’ on-time delivery (OTD).
- Familiarity with electrical components such as CT, PT, meters, relays, and related commodities.
- Hands-on experience using SAP MM and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to collaborate across functions, especially with production and shop-floor teams.
