Project Manager

Position Overview

The Project Manager plays a key role in leading field delivery of utility infrastructure projects encompassing distribution rebuilds, substation construction, and transmission enhancements. They take charge of all phases from early contractor involvement, pre-construction planning, engineering coordination, procurement, through construction, commissioning, and the final project closeout.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project execution from initial contractor engagement to completion, ensuring thorough mobilization and planning.
• Coordinate daily and weekly schedules with construction crews, subcontractors, and site leadership to maintain progress.
• Oversee permitting, materials coordination, and equipment scheduling to support project mobilization.
• Track and adjust project schedules to address delays, implementing recovery strategies when necessary.
• Align field activities consistently with the overarching project delivery plan.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction tasks to guarantee smooth EPC project flow.
• Monitor engineering outputs and procurement statuses to support construction sequencing and identify field constraints.
• Ensure construction works comply with issued construction drawings and project specifications.
• Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking, managing subcontractor performance and scope adherence.
• Facilitate change management including validation, pricing negotiation, and client approvals while identifying commercial risks and mitigation measures.
• Promote company safety standards, leading safety audits, incident reviews, and advance hazard identification and corrective actions.
• Integrate environmental considerations into execution and subcontractor tasks.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, Indigenous partners, regulators, and internal teams.
• Lead project meetings, reporting, stakeholder communications, and issue resolution to maintain client expectations and project alignment.
• Implement quality assurance systems including inspection plans and documentation such as redlines and as-builts.
• Support project controls activities encompassing progress monitoring, reporting, and schedule updates while ensuring contractual and quality compliance.

Qualifications & Skills

• 5 to 8+ years of progressive project management experience within utility, civil, or infrastructure construction sectors.
• Proven ability managing projects incorporating early contractor involvement, pre-construction, and full EPC delivery.
• Strong expertise in field execution, coordinating construction efforts, and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experienced in subcontractor oversight, schedule management, budgeting, and adapting to dynamic site conditions.
• Good knowledge of construction drawings, scopes, and contracts.
• Proficiency with project management software such as Procore, SAP, and MS Project.
• Diploma or degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related discipline.
• Certifications such as PMP or CET are advantageous.
• Excellent leadership capabilities, communication skills, and problem-solving aptitude.
• Willingness to travel and work from active or remote project locations.

• Role includes hybrid work based in Greater Toronto Area with regular on-site presence expected.
